About

Welcome to the Hogrock Adventure Rally, a celebration of two-wheeled exploration, questionable route choices, and the stubborn belief that the long way around is usually the right way.

Our story starts in the heart of Indiana, where two motorcyclists, Cameron York and Michael Waterford, crossed paths and found they shared a love of motorcycles, back roads, and getting a little lost on purpose. Over the years they helped build a community of riders who like to see what’s over the next hill, and then the one after that.

Cameron York, “Adventurer One,” comes from a motorcycle family, so rallies are less a hobby for him and more a genetic condition. He grew up around his father’s legendary rallies and now rides them alongside his son, which makes three generations of people who should probably know better. His ’70s Yamaha XT500 and KTM EXC-F 350 have carried him across more trails and tarmac than either bike would care to admit.

Michael Waterford, “Adventurer Two,” has circled the planet twice and once rode a very humble DR125 across Europe and Asia in 2011. That trip taught him two things: any motorcycle can be an adventure bike, and 125cc feels a lot smaller on the third mountain pass. Off the bike, he has paddled the Mississippi River twice, climbed a few peaks, crossed a few deserts, and generally gone looking for trouble outdoors. These days he splits his time between a Ténéré 700 and a Honda CRF450L, depending on how much mud is involved.

Together, Cameron and Michael ride with the Knarps, a crew from all walks of life on all kinds of bikes: mopeds, dirt bikes, cruisers, sidecars, and a few machines that defy classification. Over the years the Knarps rode farther, tackled tougher terrain, and eventually decided the only logical next step was to throw a party for everyone else who rides like this.

The Hogrock Adventure Rally was born.

We’ll be honest: we love riding in the Midwest, and anyone who says it’s all flat just hasn’t been paying attention. The Ohio River Valley, with its ridges, hollows, river bluffs, and gravel roads that go wherever they please, is more than worth the trip to get here. (We recommend taking the long way.)

The rally calls Hogrock Campground home, near Cave-In-Rock, Illinois, tucked between the Garden of the Gods and the Shawnee National Forest. It’s a multi-day celebration of adventure riding, good company, and roads you’ll be telling stories about for years.

What to Expect

  • Great Riding: Trails, hill climbs, twisty tarmac, grass tracks, and more gravel than you can shake a kickstand at. There’s something for every kind of rider and every kind of bike.

  • Storytelling & Inspiration: Hear from riders who have crossed continents and lived to tell about it, embarrassing details usually included.

  • Live Music & Entertainment: Music under the stars, food trucks, and a campground full of people who get it.

  • Raffle Prizes & More: Win gear for your next adventure, or at least a better excuse to plan one.

  • A Proper Finale: Saturday night wraps up with a concert that sends everyone home already planning next year’s ride.

The Hogrock Adventure Rally isn’t just a gathering; it’s an open invitation. Whether you’re a seasoned globetrotter or a weekend trail rider, you’ll find good people, good roads, and a few memories worth the miles.
